Flatland

In my earnest attempt to become a worthy geek, I feel obligated to share this video with you, my dear readers. I forgot to post it earlier on this week, guess it just slipped my mind. That's a good sign though; my mind has adapted to the geekiness in which i've been roaming in for the past two weeks that even this movie, the quintessence of geekiness, didn't shock me enough to write about it forthwith.

It's a movie called Flatland which we were forced to watch during Linear Algebra class last tuesday.

Based on Edwin Abott's book "Flatland", this is an animated film about geometric characters living in a two-dimensional world. When a young girl named "Hex" decides to "think outside the box" (in a world where such thought is forbidden), her life becomes in danger and it is up to her grandfather to save her life. (imdb.com)

It was actually pretty amusing, the ending was even quite dramatic I must say. Won't reveal more in order to prevent spoilers (like hell...people - aside from geeks ofcourse - would voluntarily want to waste 40 minutes of their lives watching two dimensional geometric shapes attempting to overthrow a nazi regime run by circles)

The Shame

Today I experienced one of my most embarrasing moments as my sister and I were heading home after dancing class. After we got off the bus at our stop, I unlocked the bicycle and started cycling. My sister jumped on and initially the ride was smooth. Then...the bike started to wobble... *wobble wobble* thus...we fell off the bike...no big deal...retry.
Attempt #2: we got on the bike and again the ride was smooth....until....*heavy wobble wobble* my sister jumped off (the clever girl) and me...facing independency...I was heading for the bushes.. The bushes seemed to grow, they just kept getting bigger and bigger. As I was contemplating on whether all shrubs have thorns or not, it happened.. Crashed into the bushes with bike and all, by this time my whole body contacted the bushes. Moving was not an option. On the background I heard laughter, in the blurry state I was residing in I wasn't able to distinguish this laughter. Something tells me it was my clever sister... Anyway...so I was lying there...not being able to move, cause any movement would cause me to sink deeper into the bushes. After the laughter stopped after 10 seconds (I guess my sister had enough of laughing and decided it was kinda sad how I was lying there) she decided to help me. By that time another man stopped to help me too.. Cause apparently he witnessed the whole thing too, alas, I heard his laughter too. Then finally, the two of them saved me and pulled me out! Freedom! WHOOHOO! A moment of sheer euphoria!! Now...next mission: smack my sister on the head! For letting me die there! Luckily savior #2 left pretty soon after I'd been rescued. So I could take my time to whoop her ass! She just couldn't stop laughing at me...sigh....i guess it's understandable, I think I would've done the same if it'd happened to her =) so...we're good still.

So that was my memorable shameful moment. I'm just glad nobody else witnessed the whole thing...cause this...most definitely was one of my most embarrasing experiences... Reckon I won't forget about this soon...if so I'll still have the few scratches on my stomach the shrubs left me with to remind me.

Mission Geek

Need to find a study pal in order to study harder. Need someone to motivate me, turn me into a geek...But why is it that I always see people studying in pairs or groups... and that I always end up alone.... Need to infiltrate! =)

need to train

Dancing class killed me... Took two classes in a row cause I succumbed to the persuasive powers of Ming Yan... She convinced me it would be fun, and it was indeed. *picturing doggystyle move again.......* But I already can feel my muscles aching and burning...result of bouncing around for 2,5 hours. Not sure whether I'll be able to get up in the morning... Luckily class starts at 11. By the way, my goal is set. Advance to the next level before the end of this year. If I'm lucky before the end of the semester. Need....to.....train....more......

Met some cool new ppl. Turns out the group consists of more intelligent people than I'd originially thought (I do not look down on people..). All attending uni. One of them even goes to the same faculty as I do. Never seen him around tho.. Maybe I'll start paying more attention to my environment, then maybe I won't trip as much as I do now.. Even tripped today when I was walking with Rens. He's so hardworking, need to learn from him, be his padawan. *recalling the geeky duo, yapppp~ still cracks me up *

Usually the cafeteria food sucks, but today it actually was edible! 3,50 euros for a decent meal consisting of salmon, potatoes and brocolli. So that was a pleasant surprise today.

Note to self: Pick up reading again.

Geek Invasion

Hahahahaha I just came out of my maths seminar (Calculus 1), and I had so much fun eavesdropping =p
I knew that lots of physics students are the geekiest, but I really didn't notice that until just now. I sat myself next to two geeky chaps, and started doing the given exercises. I reckon the geeky pair finished all of the exercises cause they started socializing with eachother. Initially I didn't even hear what the conversation was about cause (ofcourse!) I was doing my exercises and minding my own business. But then I kinda finished my exercises so I was left with nothing to do. So I picked up a few snippets of their conversation. Hahahah, they were talking about computergames, about spies etc. and how to level up their personages. I thought that'd only happen in movies! If that wasn't enough, they started talking about their geographic calculators.

"Which function of your calculator do you use most? You know... I use the plotting function the most!"
"Yeahhh, that function is niiiice! But I think I use the programming function the most! Cause i like writing my own programs. What about you?"
"Ohhh, yeahhhh! Programming! Whenever I get bored during classes I just take out my GC to program some."
"Yeah, me too menn! Cool!"

Hahahha, even writing about it makes crack up =] (I know I'm pure evil...) But I really didn't mean to eavesdrop on them...It's just...that...I finished my exercises... =) No offence really... cause geeks rule the world!

I wish I was a geek, no kidding. It's really a pain to tell (former) classmates you failed a lot of courses.. That's what I've been doing the last few days. Luckily the worst is over, merely the first few days I experienced lobsterhead-babbling-awkward-moments. Today I bumped into just one person who asked me how I was doing on Econometrics.. "Yeahh.....decided Physics suits me more..... So I've quitted Econometrics ^___^".

3 more hours till dancing class, still contemplating on how to amuse myself to kill these hours. And more important what to eat! Really craving for those Fleminck's fries now...
Gonna call home first I think, to check if the dude has fixed the central heating system yet. I need my hot water...

Leap of faith

Again tried figuring out how to import my other blog to blogger.com. Mission failed! I'll just copy paste some entries then.
Putting my life up for everybody to read. Let's see what the turnout is.
